( G) They were filled with awe and said, “We have seen remarkable things today. When He was very young, His parents moved to Nazareth, in the area of Galilee. 26 Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God. 12 They asked him, Who is the man who said to you, Pick up your pallet and walk 13 But the man who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had. Jesus Heals The Paralyzed Man ( Matthew 9:1-8 Mark 2:1-12) Say: Jesus was born in Bethlehem. 19 When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus.Ģ0 When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.” ( D)Ģ1 The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began thinking to themselves, “Who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” ( E)Ģ2 Jesus knew what they were thinking and asked, “Why are you thinking these things in your hearts? 23 Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? 24 But I want you to know that the Son of Man ( F) has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” 25 Immediately he stood up in front of them, took what he had been lying on and went home praising God. ( C) 18 Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus. And the power of the Lord was with Jesus to heal the sick. They had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem. Going onto verse 12, Jesus says: "How much more valuable is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralyzed Man ( A)ġ7 One day Jesus was teaching, and Pharisees and teachers of the law ( B) were sitting there. He used the example in Matthew 12:10-11 of finding a sheep in a pit on the Sabbath, how no one would leave the poor thing to die in that pit, but anyone would bring her out, even though it is the Sabbath day. Second, Jesus wanted to show everyone that there is never a wrong time to do good deeds. He also often used healings to teach other lessons to those around him, which brings me to the second reason for healing this man on the Sabbath. As Acts:10:38 says: "How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him." Jesus loves people to this day, and He loves to bless them. Jesus did many good and kind acts during his earthly ministry. I believe that Jesus healed the lame man on the Sabbath for two reasons:įirst, to bless this man with his healing. But the Pharisees went out and plotted how they might kill Jesus." Looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, they asked him, 'Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?' He said to them, 'If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out? How much more valuable is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.' Then he said to the man, 'Stretch out your hand.' So he stretched it out and it was completely restored, just as sound as the other. Matthew 12:9-14 says, "Going on from that place, he went into their synagogue, and a man with a shriveled hand was there.
